A former member of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, Mr. Olalekan Glory, who is now Oyo APC Youth Leader has faulted the Oyo State Government over what he described as the misrepresentation of the history of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, urging the administration to correct the numbering of the recently inaugurated Assembly.
In a public statement issued on Friday and cited by InsideOut Media Hub, the Oyo State APC Youth Leader argued that the government’s description of the newly inaugurated legislature as the 3rd Oyo State Youth Parliament Assembly is historically inaccurate.

According to him, the 2nd Oyo State Youth Parliament Assembly was duly inaugurated during the administration of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi under the supervision of the then Special Adviser on Youth Development, Hon. Afeez Repete, of which he was a member.
Olalekan Glory maintained that ignoring the existence of the previous Assembly because it was constituted under a former administration amounts to a distortion of history and undermines the credibility of the institution.
He stressed that governance is a continuum and warned against allowing political considerations to erase the contributions of past youth legislators or alter established records.
The APC youth leader called on the Oyo State Government to officially recognise the newly inaugurated Assembly as the 4th Oyo State Youth Parliament Assembly, insisting that doing so would reflect the true historical sequence.
While congratulating members of the newly inaugurated Parliament, he also urged the government to refrain from politicising state institutions or rewriting history for political convenience, emphasizing that the Youth Parliament was created to promote youth participation in governance, leadership development, and democratic values.
He concluded by stressing that preserving historical accuracy is essential to safeguarding the integrity of the institution for present and future generations.
