A leadership development and ethical governance support group, Citizens in Politics Assembly (CIPA), has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his historic re election victory, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of his administration’s performance.
In a statement cited by InsideOut Media Hub and signed by its Director of Media, Ayodele Abere, on Friday, CIPA said Governor Oyebanji’s landslide victory in the Ekiti governorship election marked a significant milestone in the state’s political history.
The group noted that the governor secured victory across all 16 local government areas, polling 319,224 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Wole Oluyede, by a wide margin. According to CIPA, the feat makes Oyebanji the first governor in Ekiti State to win consecutive terms and only the second candidate to record a clean sweep of all council areas after Ayodele Fayose’s achievement in 2014.
Describing the outcome as “a verdict rather than just a victory,” CIPA said the electorate had overwhelmingly rewarded the governor’s performance in infrastructure development, human capital investment and economic growth.
The group further stated that the APC’s dominance across all local government areas, including the strongholds of opposition candidates, reflected the confidence and trust reposed in Governor Oyebanji by the people of Ekiti.
Building on the election result, CIPA urged Ekiti voters to replicate the same support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
The organisation maintained that the governorship election had demonstrated that Nigerians reward good governance and performance, expressing confidence that the momentum would extend to the next general election.
CIPA also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical leadership, civic education, citizen engagement and public accountability, while calling on stakeholders and members of the public across the country to join its nationwide mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
