As Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, clocks 57, his Special Assistant on New Media, Omooba Damilare Oloyede, has described the senator as a tested statesman whose experience and achievements position him for the next phase of Ogun State’s development. In a birthday tribute titled “Senator YAYI @ 57: The Itesiwaju for Ogun State Beckons,” and obtained by InsideOut Media Hub, Oloyede said Adeola’s political journey reflects “deliberate preparation, uncommon performance and unwavering connection with the people.”
Born on August 10, 1969, Senator Adeola, a chartered accountant, has served at both state and federal legislative levels. He was a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he chaired the Finance Committee, and later served in the House of Representatives as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
He subsequently represented Lagos West Senatorial District from 2015 to 2023 before emerging as the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District. He currently chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations.
Oloyede highlighted Adeola’s interventions across Ogun West, citing infrastructure projects, educational support, scholarships, empowerment programmes and other initiatives as evidence of his people centred approach to representation.
According to him, the senator’s influence has also extended beyond Ogun West, with his growing acceptance across Egba, Ijebu, Remo and other parts of the state.
He argued that Adeola has evolved from being a senator of a senatorial district into “a statesman of a state,” making his 57th birthday significant as Ogun State approaches the 2027 governorship election.
Oloyede said Ogun State requires experienced leadership capable of consolidating existing achievements while accelerating development, describing the senator’s proposed ITESIWAJU vision as a philosophy centred on greater progress and forward thinking.
He said the vision seeks to transform Ogun’s industrial potential into greater economic prosperity, improve infrastructure, create sustainable opportunities for young people, expand access to capital and support for women, while addressing the longstanding aspiration of Ogun West to produce a governor.
The tribute described Senator Adeola as a leader with experience across different levels of government and a blend of fiscal discipline, grassroots mobilisation and commitment to development.
“At 57, he is at the perfect intersection of energy and experience, of youth and wisdom, of ambition and altruism,” Oloyede stated.
He further declared that the ITESIWAJU agenda represents a new chapter for Ogun State, urging residents to embrace a leadership philosophy focused on consolidation, expansion and greater progress.
While congratulating Adeola on his 57th birthday, Oloyede prayed for sound health, greater wisdom and the fulfilment of what he described as the senator’s “divine assignment to lead Ogun State into its season of ITESIWAJU.”
