The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, through its State Youth Leader, Hon. Olalekan Glory, has condemned the growing wave of insecurity across the state, accusing the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde of failing in its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property.
In a statement issued on Monday, the APC youth chieftain expressed deep concern over the recent attacks on three schools in Orire Local Government Area, alongside increasing cases of kidnappings and violent attacks in different parts of the state.
Olalekan described the situation as “heartbreaking,” noting that residents, travelers, farmers, parents, and school communities now live in fear amid what he called the government’s political complacency and overreliance on media propaganda instead of concrete security action.
The APC Youth Leader strongly condemned the attacks in Orire and the growing insecurity ravaging communities across Oyo State, insisting that no responsible government should remain comfortable while citizens are being abducted and communities terrorized.
He further argued that the security situation had become more disturbing considering the huge monthly federal allocations and security votes available to the state government, stressing that residents deserve visible and effective security interventions rather than excuses and political grandstanding.
According to him, “The lives of the people of Oyo State must never be sacrificed on the altar of politics.”
Olalekan subsequently called on the Makinde administration to immediately declare a state of emergency on security across the state and intensify collaboration with security agencies to ensure the rescue of abducted victims.
He also urged the government to strengthen intelligence gathering and local security architecture in vulnerable communities while avoiding the politicization of insecurity issues.
The APC stalwart maintained that the people of Oyo State deserve peace, safety, and responsive leadership capable of acting decisively in critical moments, warning that silence and political distractions could further worsen the security situation.
He, however, expressed solidarity with affected families and communities, calling for urgent government intervention before the situation deteriorates further.
