The National Assembly Reconciliation Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has called for sustained reconciliation, internal democracy, inclusion and unity among members as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The Committee made the call during a media briefing following reconciliation meetings held across the various Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts in the state.
The exercise, chaired by Chief Akin Oke with Prince Niran Adeyoju as Co Chairman, brought the Committee into engagement with party leaders, aspirants, delegates, elders and other stakeholders to address grievances arising from the recently concluded party primaries.
According to the Committee, stakeholders expressed various concerns and recommendations but demonstrated a strong commitment to preserving the unity of the APC and repositioning the party for electoral success in 2027.
Among its major recommendations, the Committee called for the institutionalisation of rotational candidacy in areas where zoning arrangements already exist.
It said formalising such arrangements as party policy would promote fairness, equity and inclusiveness while reducing tensions during future electoral contests.
The Committee also urged the party to ensure that candidates emerge through transparent, credible and democratic primary elections, stressing the importance of adequate consultation with party leaders, aspirants and stakeholders before primaries.
It further called for greater inclusion of aspirants who contributed to the growth of the party, recommending that deserving members be considered for political appointments, campaign responsibilities, advisory roles and other strategic assignments.
The Committee emphasised that loyalty, sacrifice and commitment to the party should be recognised and rewarded, while sustained engagement between elected officials, candidates and party leadership should be encouraged at all levels.
It also advocated transparent and progressive party management anchored on fairness, consultation, accountability and inclusiveness.
On reconciliation, the Committee stressed that the process should not end with the conclusion of its current assignment, but should become a continuous and institutionalised mechanism for addressing grievances and rebuilding trust among party members.
The Committee expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment displayed by APC stakeholders across Oyo State, noting that despite disagreements arising from the primaries, members remained determined to keep the party united and competitive.
It urged members to place the collective interest of the party above individual differences and work towards building a stronger and more inclusive APC ahead of 2027.
The Committee declared that the party was now “stronger, united and better coordinated” following its intervention across the state.
It expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s Oyo State gubernatorial candidate, Barrister Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, as well as its Senatorial, Federal House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates in the 2027 elections.
The Committee maintained that the journey to electoral victory must begin with unity, reconciliation and renewed commitment among party members.
The statement was signed by the Committee Chairman, Chief Akin Oke; Co Chairman, Prince Niran Adeyoju; and Secretary, Alhaji Yinka Folarin.
