Prince Ayodeji Abass Aleshinloye, the Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State, has announced his decision not to contest the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in the forthcoming general elections, citing the need to protect and expand the constituency’s presence at the national level.

In a press statement addressed to leaders, stakeholders, and residents of Oluyole Local Government, Aleshinloye described his decision as a “strategic sacrifice” aimed at securing greater political advantage for the constituency rather than pursuing personal ambition.

He expressed deep appreciation to party faithful and supporters for their unwavering trust and backing throughout his political journey, noting that their support has remained the foundation of his service.

The former local government chairman explained that his current role as a Federal Character Commissioner presents a rare and historic opportunity for Oluyole, as it marks the first time an indigene of the constituency occupies such a position at the national level. According to him, relinquishing the office to pursue a legislative seat could jeopardize the constituency’s hold on the position, which is neither automatic nor guaranteed to return in the near future.

Aleshinloye emphasized that retaining the federal appointment while allowing another aspirant to emerge for the House of Representatives race could position Oluyole to secure dual representation at the federal level. He noted that such a move would strengthen the constituency’s voice, influence, and access to national opportunities.

Framing his decision as one rooted in service and collective interest, he reiterated that leadership requires sacrifice and a commitment to the greater good. He maintained that his passion for serving the people remains unwavering and assured residents of his continued dedication to their welfare and representation.

While wishing all prospective aspirants success in the upcoming contest, Aleshinloye urged them to prioritize the interest of Oluyole above personal considerations.

He concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to the people, pledging to continue working for their progress and to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the constituency from his current national position.
