The ceremony was presided over by the Registrar of the Institute, Dr. Uche Okereke JP FCPA, and drew academics, public administrators and governance practitioners from across the country. The induction marked a significant recognition of Senator Buhari’s sustained advocacy and contributions to governance and public administration in Nigeria.

As part of the event, the Senator delivered a lecture titled Local Government Autonomy, where he underscored the central role of a financially and administratively independent local government system in driving national development, inclusive governance and effective service delivery at the grassroots.

In a further show of appreciation, the National Association of Public Administration Students NAPAS, The Polytechnic Ibadan Chapter, decorated Senator Buhari as the Grand Patron of the Public Administration Department. The students described the honour as a reflection of his consistent support for education, youth engagement and public sector reforms.

Speaking after the ceremony, Senator Buhari reaffirmed his commitment to promoting effective, people centred and grassroots driven governance, noting that recognition from both professionals and students strengthens his resolve to continue advocating policies that deepen democratic dividends at the local level.
