The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Timipre Sylva, a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, wanted over allegations of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of public funds totaling $14,859,257.

According to the EFCC, the wanted declaration follows a warrant issued on November 6, 2025, by the Lagos State High Court. The alleged offence involves part of the funds injected by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.

Sylva, aged 61 and a native of Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, is being sought for questioning in connection with the alleged diversion.

The Commission urged anyone with credible information on his whereabouts to contact its offices nationwide or reach the EFCC via 08093322644 or info@efcc.gov.ng, as well as report to the nearest police station or security agency.

The notice, signed by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity, reinforces the Commission’s commitment to tracking and prosecuting economic and financial crimes without fear or favor.
