Tension at Ibadan 2025 PDP Convention as Gov. Fintiri Rejects Move to Expel Wike

A major twist has emerged at the ongoing 2025 PDP National Convention in Ibadan as the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, openly distanced himself from calls to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Addressing delegates, Gov. Fintiri declared that he “categorically dissociates” himself from the proposed expulsion, warning that such a move would not serve the interest of the party at this critical moment.

He emphasised that deepening internal crises would be disastrous for the PDP, stressing that peace and reconciliation remain the only viable path to rebuild the party.

According to him, “I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP. I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration.”

Fintiri urged party leaders and stakeholders to bury their differences and commit to healing long-standing divisions, noting that unity is essential for the party’s survival ahead of future elections.

He reaffirmed his dedication to efforts that strengthen cohesion, stability, and progress within the PDP.

As the convention continues, his firm position has sparked intense reactions across delegate blocs, setting the stage for what may become one of the most defining debates at the Ibadan gathering.
