A prominent aspirant for the Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives come 2027, Olumide Yakub Alli, popularly known as OYA, has joined political leaders and well-wishers across Oyo State and beyond to celebrate the 76th birthday of the Oyo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Olayide Abas.
In a goodwill message made available to the press on Friday, Alli extolled Alhaji Abas as a “father figure, party stabilizer, and unwavering pillar of progressive politics” whose contributions to the growth of the APC in Oyo State remain invaluable.
“At 76, Alhaji Olayide Abas embodies wisdom, consistency, and principled leadership. He has stood firm for democratic ideals and has mentored countless young leaders within and outside the APC fold. Today, I celebrate a living legend and thank God for his life and service,” OYA said.
Describing Alhaji Abas as a “torchbearer of unity,” OYA reaffirmed his commitment to working with party leaders and faithful to advance the progressive cause in the Akinyele/Lagelu axis and across the state.
“As we build momentum towards the 2027 elections, the values of inclusivity, loyalty, and development that leaders like Alhaji Abas represent will continue to inspire us. I am proud to be part of that vision,” Alli added.
The celebration of the veteran politician’s 76th birthday comes at a pivotal time for the Oyo APC, as the party consolidates its grassroots structures and prepares for future electoral contests. Alhaji Abas, who has been instrumental in party-building efforts since the days of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), is widely respected for his integrity and political maturity.
Alli, a rising figure within the party and a technocrat-turned-politician, has consistently emphasized youth empowerment, infrastructural development, and strategic representation as key pillars of his vision for the Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency.
Political observers note that the public felicitation by OYA is not only a gesture of respect but also a signal of alignment with the leadership and direction of the APC in Oyo State.
As tributes pour in from party chieftains, traditional rulers, community leaders, and supporters, Alhaji Abas is expected to mark the occasion with a modest thanksgiving event surrounded by family, friends, and party faithful.
